MERCY MEDICAL CENTER, DAVIS STREET GARAGE
Baltimore, Maryland

To compensate for a growing campus and a deteriorating garage, Mercy Medical Center hired Bob to design a new structured parking garage. This 11-story, 1,350-space garage is a signature presence and the gateway to the hospital campus from Baltimore’s east side.

Bob worked closely with environmental graphic designers worked to celebrate Mercy’s brand. Details of their signature leaf appear in a large perforated metal mural that is secured to the garage. This design element serves many purposes – it masks parking ramps and works as a ventilation screen to ensure the coveted ‘open air garage’ title to avoid costly mechanical systems. The brand is reinforced throughout the campus through a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system that provides a flexible framework to foster a comfortable, inviting patient environment.
